Product Description:

The Speckulations: Robert Hubbs (vocals, guitar); Floyd Green (vocals, bass); Harold Johnson (vocals, drums); David Hunt (vocals); Tony Myers (piano).
A dozen songs, ranging from rock & roll and surf standards like "Hang on Sloopy," "See-See Rider," and "Wipe-Out" to R&B staples like "In the Midnight Hour" and "Bring It on Home to Me." A lot of their repertory is pulled from the song lists of the Animals and others, and there's not a lot that's exceptional about what they do with most of it, although they do have fun with "Walkin' the Dog," and their version of "In the Midnight Hour" has a beguiling proto-garage punk whininess about the singing, and a nice keyboard-based break. As a showcase of their virtuosity, "Wipe-Out" also comes off extremely well. ~ Bruce Eder
