Description by OLDIES.com:

Written and directed by Tom DiCillo and shown on PBS's American Masters, this was the first feature documentary about the Doors. In addition, it made material from lead singer Jim Morrison's 1969 film fragment HWY: An American Pastoral publicly available for the first time. Rare archival films show the band from its inception in 1966 to Morrison's death in 1971, and the soundtrack features 13 songs chronicling their six landmark albums. The film was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Nonfiction Series and won a Grammy for Best Long Form Video in 2011.
