A.L. 'Bert' Lloyd was one of the larger than life characters of the English Folk Scene. He was one of the architects of the Folk Revival in the early 1950s. He became one the leading folklorists, published several books, made many recordings, and was mentor and inspiration for many leading singers of the Revival including Martin Carthy, The Watersons, Ann Briggs, Peter Bellamy and many others. This double CD of extremely rare 1956 recordings has one disc of English folk songs and another of Australian ones. 2008 is the centenary of Bert's birth.
