This UK soul/funk band is led by Andrew Roachford (vocals, keyboards, percussion), and features Chris Taylor (drums), Hawi Gondwe (guitars) and Derrick Taylor (bass). Andrew Roachford performed from the age of 14 when he played in London’s Soho jazz clubs. The band was assembled in 1987, and by early 1988 was touring with Terence Trent D’Arby and the Christians, gaining a reputation for excellent live shows. Strong live support was instrumental to their breakthrough and CBS Records beat many other labels to sign the band. Two singles and an album came out in late 1988, but it was not until early 1989 that ‘Cuddly Toy’ was re-released to become a UK Top 5 hit. It was closely followed by the minor hit, ‘Family Man’.
