Formed in County Clare, Eire, Moving Cloud play waltzes, jigs, reels and polkas. The band comprises Paul Brock (button accordion), Manus McGuire (fiddle), Maeve Donnelly (fiddle), Carl Hession (piano) and Kevin Crawford (Birmingham, England; flute). Brock was already a well known instrumentalist when the group was formed, having won several fleadh cheoil titles and having played with Artie Shaw and Glenn Miller. Before forming Moving Cloud he had recorded two other albums, Tribute To Joe Cooley with Frankie Gavin in 1986 and Mo Chairdin in 1992. McGuire was born in Sligo, and released two albums with Buttons & Bows, The First Month Of Summer and Buttons & Bows. Donnelly is from Abbey in County Galway and as a keen folklorist selects much of Moving Cloud’s music. Hession, a music teacher, is also from Galway and is classically trained.
