8 April 1960, Mount Kisco, Westchester County, New York, USA. Schneider, a gifted musician and actor, has appeared in musicals from the age of 14. He played Bo Duke in the long-running US television series about a disaster-prone hillbilly family, The Dukes Of Hazzard, from 1979-85. He is featured on the 1982 cast album of the same name. In 1981, he had his first US hit (pop chart number 14, country number 4) with a revival of Elvis Presley’s ‘It’s Now Or Never’, and proved himself to be one television star who could sing. However, despite other successes on the US country chart, he was not accepted as a bona fide artist by country disc jockeys. In 1984, the disc jockeys were given unmarked copies of ‘I’ve Been Around Enough To Know’, and many of them played the record believing it to be by George Strait. Schneider’s identity was revealed and the single topped the US country chart. He had further number 1s with ‘Country...
