Shelton Hank Williams, 12 December 1972, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Williams is the son of Hank Williams Jnr. and his second wife, Gwen, but the couple divorced when he was three and consequently he saw little of his father. Williams played drums from an early age and, in a symbolic moment, accompanied his father for a performance of ‘Family Tradition’ when aged only 10. He wanted to be a musician but kicked against his grandfather’s legacy by playing punk music. He was forced to find money following a paternity suit and realised that he would earn more if he included country music in his act. With modern technology, he and his father recorded with his grandfather in a ‘singalongaHank’ project known as Three Hanks.
