US alternative rock band Dishwalla made something of a startling entry into the recording industry when they appeared alongside much more celebrated acts on the Carpenters’ 1994 tribute album If I Were A Carpenter, before they had even released a single. Their contribution, a version of ‘It’s Going To Take Some Time’, alerted several record labels to their presence, but unbeknownst to them Dishwalla were already signed to A&M Records.
