Biography

7 January 1942, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, d. 6 December 2005. Williams started singing professionally at the age of 13 and was spotted by producer Norman Newell when touring England with the Golden City Dixies in 1959. The ultra-smooth ballad singer, often called ‘Britain’s Johnny Mathis’, joined HMV Records and released his first single, ‘Tall A Tree’, in 1959.
