Caetano Emanuel Vianna Telles Veloso, 7 August 1942, Santa Amaro da Purifacação, Bahia, Brazil. Veloso has been compared at times to Bob Dylan, John Lennon and Bob Marley - another way of saying he is a cultural icon who has managed to be both a traditionalist and a rebel, often at the same time.
