Blues guitarist and singer Bill Perry grew up in a home dominated by music where his grandfather played organ for the local church and his mother was a percussionist. However, he took more interest in his father’s records of Kenny Burrell’s guitar playing, and he started to learn the guitar himself at the age of six. He appeared in his first talent show by the time he was 13, and by the time he started at high school he was regularly playing dance party shows. After school he travelled widely through California and Colorado, gradually increasing his confidence as a singer (previous employment had been as a guitarist only).
