André Tanneberger, Freiberg, Germany. Recording under the abbreviation ATB, Tanneberger, who had worked as a remixer for acts such as the Outhere Brothers and Haddaway, came to fame in July 1999 when his melodic trance single ‘9pm (Till I Come)’ became a UK number 1 hit. The single was distinctive for its infectious melody and its synthesized slide guitar sound. Its feel-good ambience and funky percussion and bassline made it a perfect candidate to become the summer’s Ibiza anthem, and to cross over into the mainstream charts as Stardust’s ‘Music Sounds Better With You’ had done in 1998. It had already received a great deal of radio airplay across continental Europe and had proved massively popular in the clubs.
