Ciaran McFeely, Cork, Eire. McFeely began his musical career in the mid-90s as singer in the glam-rock inspired the Young Offenders, a band he formed with two school friends. Unfortunately the outfit was beset by problems during the recording of their first album and was subsequently dropped by their label, Sony Records. McFeely relocated to the USA, where he travelled around for a year and began to assemble a clutch of songs. When he returned to London, he scratched a living from casual jobs while recording the songs at home on an eight-track tape machine. McFeely was signed to the independent label Fierce Panda on the strength of CD demos. He supported Suede on tour and received exposure on the UK’s national Radio 1 before his debut, #1 was released on the 2m label in late 2003.
