29 September 1970, Auburn, Alabama, USA. Country singer-songwriter Brad Cotter began his singing career in the local Baptist church, performing with the choir while his preacher father led the service. He began touring and recording as a gospel artist while still in his teens, becoming a regular on the local circuit and recording five albums before he had even graduated from high school. Electing to quit the gospel scene, Cotter relocated to Nashville at the start of the 90s and began performing as a demo singer, but despite a number of publishing deals he failed to land a mainstream recording contract. He had to wait several years for his big break. This came in 2004 when he passed the audition to appear on the second series of the televised talent show Nashville Star.
