Marty Friedman Biography
Martin Adam Friedman, 8 December 1962, Washington, DC, USA. This technically brilliant guitarist has a long and impressive pedigree. Stints with Vixen, Hawaii and Cacophony helped to formulate and define his characteristic quick-fire style, before he embarked on a solo career. Dragons Kiss was an impressive instrumental debut, combining heavy-duty riffs and intricate solos with Far Eastern influences and undertones. Friedman later went on to produce speed-metallers Apocrypha, before commencing work on a second solo project. This was put on hold after he accepted an invitation to join Megadeth in February 1990, though it did finally emerge three years later. By Introduction, the guitarist had moved on to a spacious, new age technique, on a set more expansive in tone that anything he had previously recorded in the rock field.
