Bent Fabric Biography
Bent Fabricus Bjerre, 7 December 1924, Copenhagen, Denmark. A multi-talented Danish musician, known mainly for his piano work. Bent Fabric first formed a jazz band in the 40s when he was still in his teens. They made some of the first ever jazz recordings in Denmark. In 1950, having moved into the pop music of the day, he took over the Danish record company Metronome where he appointed himself A&R manager. Bent Fabric also had his own Saturday night television show, Around A Piano. In 1962 he sold a million copies worldwide of the tune Alley Cat, which he had written under the pseudonym Frank Bjorn. The subsequent album made the US Top 20. He never followed the hit with any success other than the minor hit Chicken Feed, the following year, and returned to Denmark and his record company. In recent years he has become one of the most successful music publishers in Europe.
