Product Description:
The first-ever collection of remixes from leading UK jazz groove band DOWN TO THE BONE, whose career took off in the US with the release of From Manhattan To Staten, which went to No 2 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart and included the Grammy-nominated Brooklyn Heights. In 1999 the band were the No 1 selling independent Jazz act in the US. They later released albums on Verve and Narada/Blue Note. Three of their seven Top 10 Jazz airplay chart entries have gone to No. 1. Their key chart tracks have included Brooklyn Heights, The Zodiac, Long Way From Brooklyn, The Sweetness and Parkside Shuffle. This album of dancefloor and Latin-oriented remixes and reworks opens with DJ Spinna s take on Electric Vibes, with guest Roy Ayers, while the Agent K (alias Kaidi Tatham) mix of The Flow features Brazilian jazz vocalist Flora Purim. Other key cuts include Speedometer s rework of Funkin Around, the Afro Elements remix of Wildfire Woman and Daz-I-Kue s remixes of Angel Baby with Mark de Clive Lowe and US vocalist N Dambi, the remix of Right On Baby Yeah by Hoops Havona (alias Ceri Evans, former Brand New Heavies keyboardist) and German act Beanfield s rework of Black Choice. The band have performed in more than 30 cities in the US and their festival appearances have included Capital Jazz Festival, Capital Jazz Supercruise, Newport Beach Jazz Festival, The Hampton Jazz Festival, Clearwater Jazz Festival, Richmond Jazz Festival, Long Beach Jazz Festival, Pasadena Jazz Festival, Catalina Jazz Festival and the Las Vegas City of Lights Jazz Festival.
