About The Jazz On Atlantic Records Series
Atlantic Records, originally a small independent label formed in
1947 by Ahmet Ertegan and Herb and Mariam Abramson, set the
standard for Jazz and R&B albums from the 1950s through the
1970s. Atlantic was a leader in indentifying the new musical
styles developing in both the underground worlds of R&B and
Jazz. No other record label had its finger on the pulse of
contemporary urban music as did Atlantic.
The albums listed below are just a few of the Jazz titles release
during the "Golden Age of Jazz" period at Atlantic during which
the most innovative cutting-edge, street-savvy musicians, producers,
engineers, arrangers and composers were members of the Atlantic
family.
Collectables Records is pleased to present
many of those treasured recordings, some seeing the light of day
on CD for the first time, including many that have been out-of-print
for several years. In most cases the original liner notes are
included. The sound quality is clearly state of the art.
Join us at Collectables in celebrating the
magic and power of this truly American art form that these terrific
recordings document.
