Prior to 1964 very few British artists had had any impact in the USA. Rock 'n' Roll had been dominated the world over by American acts and in the years since, the charts had been filled with homegrown solo singers offering a diluted form of the music.
But of February 7th of that year everything changed forever. On that day The Beatles stepped off Pan Am Flight 101 and America was transfixed. During the rest of the decade numerous British artists made their mark in the US and ever since, music from the United Kingdom has been massively popular throughout the world. This is the story of those eventful years when The Brits ruled stateside - a time that came to be known as The British Invasion.
