This moving work from Leonard Bernstein was originally composed to honor the memory of John F. Kennedy. Bernstein whips up an eclectic musical storm by combining a dazzling variety of genres into a heady mix. Drawing on jazz, blues, rock, and classical styles, "Mass" is a hugely ambitious piece that requires an extraordinarily large cast and crew for the production to be staged. This performance was captured on camera in the hallowed surrounding of The Vatican in Rome, as part of the Jubilee 2000 celebrations.
