From a rich musical heritage came this child prodigy who, at the age of eleven, began to write his first compositions. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart unfortunately rose to fame during a period in which musicians were considered private play-things of the elite. Nevertheless, Mozart enjoyed a fruitful decade in the 1780s when he created his masterworks, including the operas "Don Giovanni" and "The Magic Flute." Viewers of this installment in "The Famous Composers Series" see that he penned his final great work, ironically titled "Requiem," shortly before his early death at 35.
