Product Description:

Nineteenth-century Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti is one of the most important composers of the bel canto operatic tradition, and his 1832 romantic comedy L'ELISIR D'AMORE (THE ELIXIR OF LOVE) remains a perennial favorite of opera repertories to this day. Legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti and soprano Kathleen Battle star in this 1991 production, offering flawless performances of the vocally challenging lead roles of lovelorn peasant Nemorino and his beloved Adina, who are hampered in their pursuit of romance by the comic machinations of a shifty physician and a pompous soldier.
