Fans of British folk rejoiced at the reunion of two stalwarts on this 2006 release. Violinist (and former Fairport Conventioneer) Dave Swarbrick and singer/guitarist Martin Carthy (Waterson:Carthy, Steeleye Span) were one of the folk world's favorite duos in the mid 1960s, and their brief resurgence in the '90s was cut short by illnesses and intervening side projects. Here they resume their recording career as if nothing happened, doling out reels, jigs, and ballads that pierce the heart. Although the album is heavy on traditional numbers, the originals blend in seamlessly.
