A long overdue and thoroughly comprehensive best-of by one of the most eclectic American bands of the '60s. ANTHOLOGY includes the whole of PROJECTIONS, their only studio album, as well as most of the best cuts from their live debut, here fleshed out with alternate takes and tracks that didn't make the official release.
Also included is the better material from the Project's Capitol albums (post-Al Kooper), the great should-have-been-a-hit single "No Time Like the Right Time," and early studio tracks including a scorching version of "I'm Can't Keep From Crying" with Kooper on acoustic piano. Best of all, the remastered sound is spectacular; the Project's vinyl albums had famously tinny sonics, and the aural depth and warmth here is a revelation. John Platt's liner notes, with interview excerpts from all the band members, are similarly first-rate.
