Replace Converge's high-pitched terror screams with guttural, death-metallic vocals, and its varsity guitar acrobatics with equally deft muscular brutality, and you have CLIENTS, the second album by New England's The Red Chord. Playing with the determination of a band that respects hardcore punk, but loves metal, CLIENTS pitted the band against the world, a five-man wrecking crew intent on destroying its audience's reticence to mosh, as well as its hearing. Tracks like opener "Fixation on Plastics," "Black Santa," and "Dragon Wagon" explode out of stereo, and draw a definitive line in the sand between genres, fanbases, and possibly listeners' sanity.
