The debut album from Australian metalcore outfit I Killed the Prom Queen showed that the quintet was out to give the American and European competition a run for its money. The band's sophomore effort, MUSIC FOR THE RECENTLY DECEASED, does much the same, delivering 11 songs of furious power, melodic hooks, tight musicianship, and crushing breakdowns. IKTPQ employs elements of death metal, screamo, and hardcore punk, but balances each of these in a way that brings something fresh to the nu-metal arena. Although the album treads over some of the same territory as its predecessor, that shouldn't dissuade metalcore fanatics from giving it a spin.
