Charlie Chaplin classic movies HIS NEW JOB and AT WORK on one disc.
This set caters to fans of silent screen legend Charlie Chaplin, with two classic Chaplin shorts from 1915: HIS NEW JOB and WORK. The first retains historic significance as the premier film that Chaplin made for Essanay Studios, which lured him away from Keystone; appropriately enough, then, it finds the great comic skewering the studio that he abandoned. He plays a young man who applies for work at the Lockstone Motion Picture Company - both as an assistant carpenter/prop man and as an extra in scenes - and succeeds only at wreaking havoc and chaos around him. The second film in the set, WORK, was Chaplin's eighth title for Essanay; in it, he plays a wallpaper-hanger's assistant who goes to work at a wealthy couple's home - where his klutzy attempts at painting cause endless disaster. Later, he runs headfirst into the matriarch of the house's jealous, gun-wielding lover, and eventually winds up in the middle of a zany explosion.
