Product Description:

Recording information: 09/30/1978.
All of the music that bassist Red Balaban and the Eddie Condon All-Stars (cornetist Ed Polcer, trombonist Ed Hubble, clarinetist Bobby Gordon, pianist Jim Andrews and drummer Ernie Hackett) played at a 1978 Connecticut concert has been reissued in chronological order on two 1998 Jazzology CDs that are also available as a two-CD set. The second disc only has one vocal (as opposed to five on the first CD) and has a piano feature for Andrews on "Honeysuckle Rose." Otherwise the music is pretty similar, with highlights including "Muskrat Ramble," "Panama" and "Lady Be Good." Dixieland fans can consider both CDs to be easily recommended and joyful listening experiences. ~ Scott Yanow
