MAN OF SOMEBODY'S DREAMS is a fine tribute to the late Chris Gaffney, a cult favorite Americana singer best known as half of the alt-country duo the Hacienda Brothers. Gaffney, who died in 2008 of liver cancer, was a measured, spare lyricist with a knack for refreshing the tropes of country music. Fans and friends like Dave Alvin, Peter Case, Robbie Fulks, and Calexico perform sensitive versions of Gaffney's songs, closed out with the man's final recording, the heartbreaking "Guitars of My Dead Friends."
