Description by OLDIES.com:
Show business can be burlesque or vaudeville, the Ziegfeld Follies or smoky dives where a fella sings for drinks. In Show Business, it's all of 'em! Eddie Cantor, George Murphy, Joan Davis and Constance Ford star in a star-crossed story of stardom as small-timers who aim for the big time...in their careers and in love. Some make it. Some don't (at least not until just before the final credits). The song list of evergreens includes "Dinah," "Making Whoopee," "Alabamy Bound" and as a recurring motif that weaves the story together, the heartfelt "It Had to Be You." Cantor produced, basing the film partly on his own climb to fame and proving that 35 years in show biz had taught him exactly how to sell a song, get a laugh or wring a tear.
The boys of burlesque team up with the girls of vaudeville in this romantic-musical. Film provides an insight into the early days of show business.
A bright and charming backstage musical that follows the lives and careers of four vaudeville entertainers. Along the way, there's love, war, heartache and ultimately, a return to happiness.
- The Turner videocassette is part of the "RKO Collection."
