These are not the original Drifters recordings from their most fertile and commercially successful period (1959-64). Instead, they're remakes, recorded in the '80s by the then- current Drifters' touring ensemble (the liner notes are vague on the subject).
That caveat aside, if you want all-stereo versions of the Drifters hits this is a good buy; several of them, in particular "There Goes My Baby" and "Please Stay," are so eerily accurate in their evocation of the originals that you could be excused for thinking they're they real thing. As for the rest, they're close enough, and the songs themselves--timeless classics like "Up on the Roof," Gerry Goffin and Carole King's gorgeously romantic ode to working class escape and freedom--are of course unarguable.
