Originally released on London Phase 4, these two sessions by British composer and conductor Stanley Black have been reissued for the first time on CD by Dutton Vocalion. Both sets are pleasant orchestral pop, but not particularly interesting. Moonlight Cocktail, released in 1957, features smooth versions of songs with the word "Moon" in their titles, while Sophisticat in Cuba, released the following year, collects such standards as "I've Got You Under My Skin," "Melancholy Baby," and "Give My Regards to Broadway." ~ Al Campbell
