This outstanding CD featuring The Encounters awesome take on The Jesters' "Now That You're Gone" and Harbor Lights' wonderful doo-wop flavored interpretation of Peter & Gordons' "I Go To Pieces." The Delneros are right-on with Anthony & The Sophmores' "Play Those Oldies Mr. DJ" and Eddie Pardocchi's Five Discs are fabulous with The Valentines' "Don't Say Goodnight."
The first volume of Best of Collectables Acappella gathers ten tracks released by the label containing modern versions of street corner doo wop including tracks by Frankie & the Fashions, Pure Gold, 49th Street, the Encounters and the Delneros. This material might be too obscure for the casual listener, but the hardcore collector of a cappella should check this out. ~ Al Campbell
