Description by OLDIES.com:
We visited Colorado's Tennessee Pass in January 1997 to record what actually was the final winter of North America's highest railroad pass, which crossed the Rocky Mountains at 10,212 feet on the old Denver & Rio Grand Western just before the Union Pacific closed it down. The scenery is magnificent, there was chest deep snow, gorgeous weather and the trains were working hard on a 3% grade. The sight and sound of 3 head end AC units, 4 AC swing helpers and 2 AC's on the tail end grinding through the double S-curves at Mitchell with a mammoth coal train is an experience not soon to be forgotten.
