Performers, Cast and Crew:
This collection features five films starring legendary western star John Wayne.
BLOOD ALLEY: William Wellman's BLOOD ALLEY begins with the inhabitants of a local Chinese village liberating political prisoner Captain Tom Wilder (John Wayne). The oppressed villagers are disillusioned by communism's stranglehold and want the former merchant marine to sail their ship through the treacherous Formosa Straits--the infamous Blood Alley--to Hong Kong and freedom. The Duke complies and heads off down the Yangtze aboard an old steamer, with Cathy Granger (Lauren Bacall) along for the ride.
TRAIN ROBBERS: When a skilled gunman named Lane (John Wayne) agrees to help a widow (Ann Margaret) retrieve the gold her late husband stole in order to clear her name, he expects the job to be an easy buck. The treasure hunt turns out to be more dangerous than they planned, however, when they encounter the villainous Pinkerton Man (Ricardo Montalban) and his horde of Mexican outlaws. As Lane and Mrs. Lowe search for the stolen booty and evade Pinkerton and his thugs, they develop a curious affection for one another and realize that love is more precious than gold.
MCQ: Wayne stars here as Leutenant Lon McQ, an aging Seattle detective investigating the murder of his own best friend. As the case unravels, McQ makes a startling discovery that the police department may have been involved in the crime.
SEA CHASE: A renegade German freighter captain has both the British and German Navies in hot pursuit when he embarks from Australia across the Pacific as WWII breaks out. To make matters worse, the globetrotting adventuress he takes on as a passenger, has the crew in a lather.
TALL IN THE SADDLE: Wayne poses as a woman-hating cowboy...until he goes to work at the Raines' Ranch.
