An angst-ridden advertising executive gets pushed over the edge when his minivan is hijacked by an oafish bank-robber while driving several kids to school. Slapstick hilarity for the whole family.
After bungling a robbery, sweet-natured Franklin Laszlo is forced to take some unusual hostages: uptight, overworked Daniel, and a bus full of schoolkids. As they are endlessly pursued by cops, other thieves, and even a rabid meter maid, Franklin manages to bond with the mischievous kids, while Daniel learns to loosen up.
