Folks, Collectibles has given the Ray Conniff fans another treat in the CD baby of TREATS...These two LPs are BEYOND BELIEF in MUSICAL Integrity and beauty, IN CONTENT and most of all IN an HONEST and TRUE representation of what 70's songs WERE and how they LENT themselves to the CONNIFF 70's sound......On We've Only Just Begun we are treated to an LP picture of Ray's beautiful wife VERA, in addition to arrangements that FAR SURPASSED some of the originals...SnowBIRD, just ROCKS! and I don't mean Rock n Roll and I mean it is just a FIERCE arrangement....Ray solos on his own "penned" compostion of a boy shy and desperate to tell his girl he loves her in "Everybody Knows.." Ray's voice is tender and full of love....The Jacksons' I'll Be There blows away the original arrangement, though at times very similar in structure...Candida is beautiful sung by the singers and marvelously delicious to listen to...The ENTIRE album is "strawberry shortcake" for the ears!! YOU CAN'T GO WRONG with This SOUND!..Moving on to Love Story...Look, this album is a LEGEND amoung all Ray Conniff CLASSIC LPs...Listen to Ray's take on Lynn Anderson's ROSE GARDEN, listen to the percussion and the "tightness" of this arrangement..."Watching Scotty Grow" with its touch of Reggae is PHENOMENAL and way AHEAD of its time when arranged by Ray...THE GEM, in my opinion, on this LP is the CARPENTERS' "For All We KNOW," which is beautifully sung by the singers, with Ray soloing on his Trombone and the tenderness of the vocals blending in with the arrangement...The list is endless, what you can you about Perry Como's It's IMPOSSIBLE (Somos Novios)....BUY this and BUY it YESTERDAY............Like Rica Moore (one of Ray's singers used to say..."Ray's sound is a PURE SOUND, a GOOD SOUND...." Run out and Thank Collectibles for putting these CDs out....Put all the rest out and WE will SLEEP better at night...
Chao Ray Conniff Fans...Happy Listening as Mr. C. used to say...!
