This two-fer from Collectables features a pair of out of print Ray Conniff LPs: Rhapsody in Rhythm and Hollywood in Rhythm, both originally part of Conniff's "In Rhythm" series. Originally issued in 1958 and 1961, respectively, each of the two-dozen tracks has a seamless continuity dominated by the romantic theme including "Love Is a Many Splendored Thing," "My Heart Stood Still," "It Might as Well Be Spring," and "Moonlight and Roses." This is an enjoyable reissue from the massive Conniff catalog on Columbia Records, but most listeners would be better served with one of the many compilations in print. ~ Al Campbell

Two Excellent Conniff Orchestra & Chorus Albums

These are two of Ray's best ever albums and features the orchestra and chorus sound. Hollywood In Rhythm naturally is an album dedicated to Movie Themes, with some trully excellent arranging. Every track is great, my own personal favourites are "Please", "Laura", and "Yesterdays". Rhapsody In Rhythm is an absolute must not only for Conniff Fans, but for anyone who loves orchestral music. The Orchestra and Chorus feature again, but this time with strings also. The rendtions are some of Ray's most beautiful, and every one is a masterpiece. Every track is a highlight, again personal favourites include "Beautiful Love", "Malguena", "Our Waltz", "I Concentrate On You", and "Take Me In Your Arms". Self penned tracks appear on each album "Pacific Sunset" from Hollywood, and "To My Love" from Rhapsody.
Well done collectables for re-releasing two excellent albums. More please.
