Product Description:

Masterpiece Theatre presents this adaptation of Michelle Magorian's novel about a cantankerous WWI veteran who is paired, against his will, with a London orphan. Set in a small English town at the start of WWII, GOODNIGHT MISTER TOM stars John Thaw as Tom Oakley, who gets stuck with a shy young orphan named Willie Beech when the children of London are evacuated and sent to rural towns in preparation for the expected German bombings. Willie, an illiterate, bed wetting child who has endured a horrific childhood soon brings out the caring parent in Tom that had disappeared years ago, beginning a relationship that will change both their lives.
