Toronto drag queen Robin (Craig Russell), moves to New York to start his career as a stage performer, leaving behind his schizophrenic roommate Liza (Hollis McLaren), with whom he has a strong, supportive relationship. Director/star Craig Russell's striking impersonations of drag standards (Streisand, Dietrich, Midler, etc.) are among the many highlights of this funny, touching, low-budget cult hit, which is now recognized as a landmark in gay cinema. A sequel, TOO OUTRAGEOUS, followed in 1987.
