The appropriately titled SPIRIT OF THE CENTURY finds the legendary Blind Boys of Alabama drawing on their decades-long gospel legacy while keeping one eye firmly on the present. "Amazing Grace," "Nobody's Fault But Mine," and "Motherless Child" are here, among other entries from the Blind Boys' classic repertoire, but the group also tackles tunes by Tom Waits, Ben Harper, and the Rolling Stones. Tying it all together, of course, is the Boys' incomparable harmonies and down-home gospel fervor.
