The light, whimsical "Love Makes the World Go Round" was like a breath of fresh air, it soared to number 11 on the pop charts in March of 1966. Jackson sung in a light, fluttery tenor and would slide in and out of falsetto for emphasis. This 12-song collection is loaded with young adult love songs that are enhanced by Jackson's vocal phrasings. His remake of Len Barry's "1-2-3" is done at a lazier pace then the original, Jackson's sounds smooth and buttery and uses his flutter to great effect on the bubblegum classic. Roger Miller's humorous, snappy "King of the Road" is another original injected with new blood. The song is a perfect vehicle for Jackson's style, and was probably more to his liking than some other selections here including the title track, which he supposedly hated. The song was not about romance, but was written by Jackson about the civil rights riots of the '60s. A tight cohesive production by Ollie McLaughlin. ~ Andrew Hamilton
