Product Description:

2 LPs on 1 CD: SONGS OF THE WORLD VOL. 1 (1959)/SONGS OF THE WORLD VOL. 2 (1959).
Recorded in 1958. Originally released on Columbia (8140) & Columbia (8141).
Recording information: 04/29/1958-05/12/1958.
Norman Luboff recorded numerous albums from the mid-'50s through the late '60s that mixed classical chorales of Europe and the popular singalongs of Mitch Miller. Like Miller, Luboff recorded for Columbia Records, releasing a series of albums that focused on a particular theme for each one, kind of like easy listening concept albums: Songs of the Cowboy, Songs of the British Isles, Songs of the Caribbean, Songs of Christmas -- you get the idea. On Songs of the World, Vols. 1 & 2, the material runs the gauntlet from sober choral arrangements to Ray Conniff's more poppy moments. Highlights include "The Lonely Birch Tree," "Valencianita," and "Carmen, Carmela." ~ Al Campbell

An excellent collection of songs from all over the world from the Norman Luboff Choir. If you are into international songs and singing look no further than this collection. 24 songs, many in original languages and in English, with simple instrumentation, make for a fine listen. All lyrics are included with this package. Sound quality is excellent, along with very nice packaging. Collectables does it again with a fine quality product at a great price.
