This film biography of gangster Louis "Lepke" Buchalter (who headed the notorious syndicate known as "Murder Inc.") provides insight into the Jewish underworld of the 1930s. Lepke's life of crime can be traced back as far as his childhood, when he was a liar and a thief. He grew up to become a troubled juvenile delinquent, and later a respected, feared gangster, whose contemporaries included Lucky Luciano, Legs Diamond and Dutch Schultz. However, Lepke learned the hard way that crime does not pay -- and can lead to death...
