Melodically blended four-part harmonies were the trademark of The Four Lads. The quartet began as background singers, memorably lending their voices to Johnny Ray on "Cry". Two albums from the Columbia vaults is available for the first time on this CD. Among the 22 memorable songs from the pens of Broadway's best are "There's No Business Like Show Business", "Too Darn Hot", and "The Lady Is A Tramp".

The Four Lads: Frank Busseri, Bernard Toorish, Connie Condarini, James Arnold.
Originally released on Columbia Records (CS 8047).
Personnel: James Arnold (tenor).
Four on the Aisle was originally issued in 1959 on Columbia and had been out of print until being reissued in 2001 on Collectables. This pleasant vocal set includes standards taken from classic Broadway musicals from the pens of Cole Porter (Kiss Me, Kate), Rodgers & Hart (Babes in Arms), and Irving Berlin (Annie Get Your Gun). The Ray Ellis Orchestra back up the Four Lads throughout this set. Those who appreciate easy listening music with beautiful harmonies will find this a welcome addition to their collection. ~ Al Campbell
