One great way to enjoy a musical - was to hear Percy's orchestral version. "Kismet" was beautiful to see, with lavish costumes and colors, and Percy brings us the music and visual beauty of the show instrumentally. The music of Borodin never sounded better! "Music From Hollywood" features an extended orchestral version of "The Song from Moulin Rouge" and perhaps the most beautiful and dramatic rendition of "Ruby" ever recorded! (Bill Halvorsen)

2 LPs on 1 CD: KISMET (1953)/MUSIC FROM HOLLYWOOD (1953).
Includes original release liner notes and compilation liner notes by Mark Marymont.
One of several two-fer reissues on the budget reissue label Collectables, this disc combines two of Percy Faith's 1953 albums, an instrumental reworking of themes from the musical KISMET and an album of popular Hollywood film songs of the late '40s and early '50s. As always with Faith's arrangements, the results are lushly orchestrated and sumptuously arranged, tending to be considerably slower than the originals. Highlights here include KISMET's "Stranger In Paradise" and "Baubles Bangles and Beads," as well as moderately obscure film themes like "Love Is for the Very Young," from THE BAD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. At 76 minutes, this is a jam-packed disc, but unlike some of the Collectables reissues, no songs have been removed to make both albums fit on one disc.
