Sadly, this has lead to an enormous amount of female babies being aborted, orphaned, or simply abandoned. Orphanages overflow with young girls, and many American couples looking to adopt have travelled to China to help alleviate the problem. This documentary takes a trip with some of the families hoping to adopt a child in China, while also casting a critical eye over the accepted mores of the country.
