New York Times - 04/06/2007 4 stars out of 4 -- "Flynn's best non-swashbuckler....This gem builds to a moving climax after lots of romantic bickering between Flynn and co-star Alexis Smith."
A high-spirited biopic that depicts the life of dashing heavyweight champ Jim Corbett. Set in turn-of-the-century San Francisco, the story brings to life the colorful world of 19th-century fisticuffs and climaxes in the legendary championship match between Corbett and John L. Sullivan (Bond). Flynn adds just the right note of swagger to what was one of his favorite roles.
The film is based on the life of 19th century heavyweight boxing champion James J. Corbett, nicknamed "Gentleman Jim," who bested John L. Sullivan in the 1890s.
Additional cast: Madeleine LeBeau and Dorothy Vaughan.
