Product Description:

Full title: Singing The Mother Countries: Dance, Street Songs And Love Songs From England, Scotland And Ireland: The Riverside/Folklore Series, Vol. 4.
Recorded in 1955-56.
This is part of The Riverside/Folklore series.
A splendid collection drawn from the Riverside (and Topic Records) vaults. Artists featured include the wonderful A.L. Lloyd, Ewan MacColl (who is well overdue for a serious reissue series), Margaret Barry and several others. A choice selection of tunes are featured, both well-known and lesser-known (I count "Rosin the Beau" in this category, mainly because Lloyd's hearty rendition is one of the few apparently on record). A must-add for a good Celtic or British folk collection. ~ Steven McDonald
