Recorded at Sage & Sound Recording, Hollywood, California. Includes liner notes by Frank Capp and Steve Allen.
This CD was the first small-group date to feature the swinging tenor of Rickey Woodard. Drummer Frank Capp, along with pianist Tom Ranier and bassist Chuck Berghofer, jam with Woodard on a set of jazz standards including "Oleo," "Au Privave" and "Polka Dots and Moonbeams." For a change of pace Berghofer sings Bobby Troup's humorous "Three Bears" and the date concludes with Woodard switching to alto for his own "You Tell Me." A fine bop set. ~ Scott Yanow
